Good afternoon, Bulldog fans.
The bye week came at a good time. It allowed us to step back for some honest self-reflection and fine-tuning within the program. We used the time wisely. We focused on our physical recovery and on developing our identity as a team.
Statistically, we’re seeing real growth. We currently rank 2nd in the conference in rushing offense and 3rd in passing efficiency. Nationally, we’re 2nd in the country for fewest penalties, showing our team’s discipline and attention to detail. We are also 26th in the nation in sacks, which is a big reason for the success we have had on defense. We are also 3rd in the country in net punting, highlighting the strength of our special teams.
Beyond the numbers, we used the bye week to develop our depth and give valuable reps to younger players. In practice, we emphasized tempo and situational football. We revisited fundamentals, especially with our triple option offense. Our ability to execute depends on how we practice. We have made that a daily focus.
We’re also working hard on eliminating distractions and being “where your feet are”. That mindset is important for building consistency. Health-wise, the bye week allowed several players to heal and recover. We’re excited to have Corey Ibrahim back in action this week. His return adds another weapon in the backfield and boosts our offensive potential.
Our mindset remains the same this week: focused, tough, and team-first. We know we’re facing a solid program in Valdosta State. They have a championship history and a strong culture of winning. We’ll need to perform our best.
The guys continue to buy into what we’re doing. More importantly, they are starting to believe in themselves and each other.
We’re excited to take the field again this weekend and keep building.
Go Dogs!
